All the readings

Every reading the oracle draws from, laid out day by day.

The Daily Oracle gives one reading at a time, chosen for the day of the week you ask on and addressed to you by name. That makes it easy to miss the shape of the whole thing — so these pages set it out plainly. There are 544 distinct readings across the seven days, and each day's set is written to that day's particular character.

They are not interchangeable. A Monday reading pushed at you on a Sunday evening would be actively unhelpful, and a Sunday reading on a Monday morning would be worse. The whole premise is that the days ask different things of you, so the readings answer differently.

How a reading is put together

Each reading has three parts: an opening phrase that places you in the day, a central line that carries the actual sentiment, and sometimes a closing note — trust it, let it unfold, and so it is. The oracle varies the opening and closing when it draws, which is why the same underlying reading can reach you in slightly different words on different days.

The day pages list one version of each distinct reading, so you can read a day's set as a whole without seeing the same sentiment three times over.

On taking it seriously

These are written to be encouraging, and they are deliberately general — which is exactly why they tend to land. That is a real and well-documented effect, and it is worth understanding rather than being fooled by; we wrote about it in why a fortune feels like it was written for you.
